With his longstanding expertise in the pharmaceutical industry, where he served as international conference coordinator and director of international communication (including international press relations) for a variety of firms, Jean-Claude Coubard brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise in medical-scientific communication, international education of health professionals, and international press initiatives for both the medical community and general public.
After speaking with Dr. Jean-Pierre Després—a world-renowned expert in abdominal obesity and its cardiovascular consequences and Director of Research in Cardiology at Centre de recherche de l’Institut universitaire de cardiologie et de pneumologie de Québec—the decision was made to create the International Chair on Cardiometabolic Risk.
Europe can play a key leadership role in the battle against societal chronic diseases. This is why Jean-Claude Coubard decided to create the European Healthy Lifestyle Alliance, focused on the fight against obesity and its consequences at EU level.
